Student Rules of Conduct

NMLS Rules of Conduct for Students (ROCS)

All students enrolled in courses through Mortgage License Online must adhere to these Rules of Conduct. For approved-course delivery, these acknowledgements are retained and enforced in accordance with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) requirements.

Important Notice

This summary reflects the official NMLS Rules of Conduct for Students (ROCS), Version 4, which governs. Every student must agree to the ROCS V4 prior to the start of the course (or as part of registration), the instructor or facilitator explains the Rules of Conduct before the course begins, and the ROCS appears on the cover page or a stand-alone second page of the course materials. A signed copy of the student’s acknowledgement is retained for a minimum of five (5) years.

1. Identity Verification

  • You must be the individual enrolled in the course. No other person may complete coursework on your behalf.
  • You must provide accurate personal information including your legal name and NMLS ID (if applicable).
  • You may be required to verify your identity during the course through knowledge-based questions, photo identification, or other verification methods.
  • Misrepresentation of identity is grounds for immediate course invalidation.

2. Attendance & Participation

  • Online courses require active participation. You must view all course materials and complete all required activities.
  • Course progress is tracked electronically. Idle time exceeding the determined threshold will not count toward completion hours.
  • You must complete the full number of approved hours to receive credit. Partial completion does not qualify for NMLS credit banking.
  • You are responsible for ensuring a stable internet connection and appropriate learning environment.

3. Academic Integrity

  • All quiz and exam answers must be your own work. Cheating, plagiarism, and collaboration on individual assessments are strictly prohibited.
  • You may not use unauthorized materials, notes, or external resources during proctored assessments.
  • You may not share quiz or exam questions, answers, or content with others.
  • Sharing course materials, login credentials, or course access with non-enrolled individuals is prohibited.

4. Prohibited Activities

  • Recording, screenshotting, or otherwise capturing course content without authorization.
  • Using automated tools, bots, or scripts to progress through course content.
  • Submitting false or fabricated information for identity verification.
  • Engaging in any activity intended to manipulate or circumvent course tracking systems.
  • Distributing or selling course materials or access.

5. Consequences of Violations

  • Violations of these Rules of Conduct may result in:
  • • Immediate suspension or termination of course access.
  • • Invalidation of course completion and refusal to bank credits with NMLS.
  • • Reporting of the violation to NMLS and/or relevant state regulatory authorities.
  • • Forfeiture of course fees with no refund.
  • • NMLS reserves the right to take additional disciplinary action.

6. Acknowledgment

  • By enrolling in any course at Mortgage License Online, I acknowledge that:
  • • I have read and understand these Student Rules of Conduct.
  • • I agree to abide by all rules during my enrollment.
  • • I understand that violations may result in course invalidation and reporting to NMLS.
  • • I am the individual enrolled in the course and will complete all work independently.
  • • I understand that a copy of this acknowledgment will be retained for a minimum of five (5) years.
